Oxfords new
Atmos range is Oxfords answer to the ever changing seasons and the weather
conditions that motorcycling in the UK can throw at you, essentially working as
a more robust layering system for your motorcycle clothing. Starting with your base layer and ending at wind
stopper and waterproof outer layers, it’s a complete system made with
versatility in mind for riders who prefer to layer up in a way that is more reminiscent
of hill walkers and campers and leans in to a more modular adaptive clothing
choice.
With a motto
of “harness your heat” it’s easy to understand what Oxford is trying to achieve
with this range and what makes it more attractive to us is that it is doing it
from a motorcycle focused point of view. That means that the insulation is
targeted towards zones on the body which are more likely to become chilled
whilst riding but also with thoughtful choices like having panels that stretch
under the arms, providing less bulk and more breathability from one layer to
the next.
Other rider centric
features like lower cut backs with breathable sections, conveniently placed
pockets for wallets and phones and the ability for some of the jackets to fold
away in to their own pockets adds to the list of features that provides riders
with options that will help them tailor their layering system to their own
needs ride by ride.
As of
writing, the range consists of the heat-core base layer top and bottoms, the
thermo mid-layer fleece and puffer, with windproof and waterproof shell options
on their way soon to complete the system. The range continues the development
of Oxfords Advanced Expedition range so we would expect to see updated versions
of the designs that where popular in that range start to transition in to this
one.
It is
important to say that this is a range focused on comfort and weather protection
and as such has no CE armour in it, so you would need to pair it with your preferred
armour option, wether that’s a light weight standalone armour jacket giving a
summer option through to the winter, or using Atmos as your under layer for a
more traditional jacket and trousers combo, adding yet further comfort in tovcombat
harsher weather conditions.
The full
range will be available on the MotoGB shop as soon as the stock arrives, however
the Atmos Thermo Fleece and Puffer are available right now, prices starting at just
£79.99.
